Q&A

When is the best time to get a spray tan?  I recommend one or two days before the event.  

Will the tan come off on my clothing ie my wedding dress? As with all white clothing some rub off of skin can discolour areas of clothing where it is tight, like your bra straps.  A tan should not come off on your dress but if you have failed to wash off the bronzer properly you may get some transference.  Nakedtanz products are all water soluble so they should wash out of any clothing.

How long do I leave the bronzer on before washing off?  At your appointment I give you an information pamphlet to take home that has full instructions on how to care for your tan... it includes how long to leave the bronzer on before wash off.  It does depend on the tan you chose at your appointment and can be between 20 minutes and 4 hours. 

Can I go swimming with my tan and will it last? Unfortunately swimming will encourage the tan to come away quicker than just normal wear and tear as the chlorine will bleach the tan and salt water will exfoliate the tan off.  However, you can still take quick dips and can use a tan extender to give the tan back some colour if you do decide to swim.  I always say that it is still worth getting a tan to get your bikini on in the first place!! We have an ultimate tan booking option which will give you a long lasting tan.

Will I go orange? I am really white and don't want to be orange In all the years I have been tanning I have never made anyone go orange! I stand by my products and take time to guide you in your choice of colour and darkness. Rest assured you will not go orange!

How long does a tan last?  The Spray tan should last 7-10 days. Moisturising and drinking plenty of water will help keep the tan looking superb, and using a tan extender can increase the longevity of your tan. 

When should I wax or shave?  Waxing should be done a couple of days prior to tan application, never after! Shaving is done the morning or evening before your tan.  

Should I exfoliate or prep my skin before the spray tan?  Yes, absolutely exfoliate prior to your tan application in the week leading up to the tan and make sure your skin is not dry so moisturising regularly will help as well.

Should I shower before coming for my spray tan?  No, showering before getting a spray tan can alter the PH of the skin and affect the colour development.  

Can I wear deodorant and moisturiser the day of my tan?  No,  both of these can create a barrier affecting how the tan takes on the skin. It is best if you avoid using them, even removing them prior to the tan can leave you with an uneven finish. 

What do I wear home after the tan?  It is best to wear dark, loose clothing.  In the summer a dress is suitable, in the colder months loose track pants and a hoodie is fine.

What do I do if it is raining on the day of my spray tan appointment? If you are a regular tanner you will know that spray tan and water do not mix. You must come to your appointment prepared to cover up your body to get you safely to your car and out at the other end of your journey.  I recommend wearing home loose track pants, hoodie, may be sock and shoes, umbrella and/or raincoat.  

What do I do if I splash my tan while it is processing? You get a little bit of moisturiser and blend the bronzer back over the top of the splash mark.  It will not look perfect but it will fix the problem.
